You should protect your online information so that random people can't see your information. You shouldn't put all of your information online, in order to protect your identity. I locked my twitter account so that only my approved followers can see my tweets. If you don't lock your twitter people you don't know can follow you. People can also google your name and read all of your tweets if you don't lock your account.
